Free Independence Day Themed Walking Tour "From Independence Day to Evacuation Day"


Leading up to Independence Day, the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) will offer a free Independence Day-themed historic walking tour on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at 11 am. On the tour, “From Independence Day to Evacuation Day”, licensed New York City tour guide Miriam Berman, will give visitors an insight into the history of the Flatiron District during the time of liberation from the British.

“From Independence Day to Evacuation Day” will feature fascinating stories about the period that followed the Declaration of Independence, and the long-forgotten holiday Evacuation Day, when the British evacuated New York City, marking the official ending of the War for Independence.

Where: Meet at the tip of the Flatiron Building on 23rd Street just east of 5th Avenue.
