Celebrate Flatiron Partnerships 2015 Event Recap

"One of the reasons we love this event so much is because we get a great crowd from the community," noted Jennifer Brown, Executive Director of the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership, to the more than 200 guests at last night's 10th annual Celebrate Flatiron Partnerships networking event at 230 FIFTH's iconic rooftop and penthouse lounge. "It's really a combination of people who have been here forever, before the BID was formed, and a lot of new neighbors."

As the group enjoyed drinks and hors d'oeuvres, along with a chance to see spectacular city views from the 27th Street Flatiron location, Nicholas Athanail of The Stanford Condominium and BID Board Member also agreed that "the BID does an amazing job in this district, and certainly having such a great representation here means a lot to us!"

Flatiron District businesses in attendance included interior design global brand Porcelanosa, which debuted their NYC flagship showroom at 202 Fifth Avenue and 25th Street last month, and the newly reopened Mediterranean-style eatery Kat & Theo at 5 West 21st Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. "I've been overwhelmed by the support of the Flatiron BID," said Renee Typaldos of Kat & Theo, "and we thank you!"

Next month, the BID also plans more community outreach as it moves forward with the design process of the permanent reconstruction of the pedestrian plazas. "The first step will be a public workshop," said Brown of the announcement, "and we're going to invite all from the community to come and talk to us about what you'd like to see in terms of the design of the spaces, what's important for the neighborhood." And, she added, "That's going to kick off the largest capital project that the BID has ever done in the neighborhood!"
