2017 has gotten off to a memorable start in the Flatiron District, with media attention highlighting neighborhood businesses, restaurants, and real estate developments. Stay up to date with the latest Flatiron District news with the BID’s monthly roundup of notable highlights.

  • Since moving their corporate headquarters to L&L Holding Company’s 200 Fifth Avenue in 2010, luxury retailer Tiffany & Co. has grown to become one of the largest office tenants in the Flatiron District. Tiffany’s design director Francesca Amfitheatrof was recently interviewed for a profile in Bloomberg, where she discussed some of the new designs being introduced at Tiffany stores around the world.
  • VERTS Mediterranean Grill is the newest addition to the neighborhood food scene, as it opened its doors in January at 24 East 23rd Street in the Flatiron District. The restaurant celebrated its debut by offering one free entrée to customers during their first day on Friday, January 13th (via AM New York). In other restaurant news, neighborhood favorite Shake Shack recently rolled out their new Shack App. Shake Shack is giving out one free single ShackBurger to every guest who downloads the new app. The new app also lets customers see the line at the original Madison Square Park location with the Shack Cam (via AM New York).
  • With 289 rental units, the new residential building at 7 West 21st Street became one of the largest residential properties in the Flatiron District upon its completion in late 2016. The building, which was developed by Friedland Properties and is now managed by Rose Associates, was profiled in Real Estate Weekly earlier this month, where it was reported that bathroom design company Kohler will open a new showroom in the retail portion at the base of the building this spring.
  • A New York Post article about the increasing number of experiential retail spaces, highlighted the FujiFilm Wonder Photo Shop at 176 Fifth Avenue as one of the most innovative experiential retail spaces to open in New York City in 2016. The BID also reported on the rise of experiential retail spaces like menswear brand Todd Snyder and skin & body care brand L’Occitane in the Q4 2016 Flatiron District Market Snapshot, which was released earlier this month.
