Hanging Flower Baskets Return to the Flatiron District

They’re back! The BID’s hanging flower baskets were recently re-installed and planted after NYCDOT completed the City Lights phase one installation in early June. The baskets boast white begonias, red coleus, and blue petunias. Later this summer, the BID will more than double the number of hanging baskets in the district to 94 street poles.

In addition to the hanging flower baskets, 180 tree pits were also recently planted with warm weather-appropriate dragon wing-leafed begonias. The Park Avenue South malls, between 21st Street and 28th Street, now include white and big series begonias, coleus, and ipomoea, and the 148 planters in the Flatiron Public Plazas are alive with very colorful Victoria blue salvia, lantana, geraniums, hibiscus, and petunias.
