New Neighbor: The Pho

Vietnamese restaurant The Pho recently opened at 127 East 23rd Street in the Flatiron District. This is the second NYC restaurant from the team at The Pho, after opening Pho King in Tribeca last year. 2017 has been an eventful year for fans of Vietnamese cuisine in the neighborhood, as Vietnamese-inspired fast-casual restaurant BONMi also opened on East 23rd Street earlier this year.

When asked about the location of the new restaurant, General Manager Jade Ahn said, “We really liked the overall energy of the block. No matter the time of day there’s always a lot of action going on around the restaurant, not only from nearby office workers and tourists visiting the neighborhood, but also from hungry students at Baruch College.”

The restaurant offers a traditional Saigonese pho, consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, sprouts, and a choice of protein. Customers can customize their pho with toppings like flank, brisket, spicy catfish, and grilled chicken. Another staff favorite is the Special Combo Banh Mi, which is served on a French baguette with pork belly, pâté, butter, cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrot, and daikon.

Aside from the signature noodle soup and banh mi sandwiches, The Pho also offers rice dishes, vermicelli noodles, and Asian tacos. Flatiron District coffee lovers can also try the restaurant’s Vietnamese iced coffee, made from Café Du Monde coffee and chicory.

Decorative murals and Vietnamese art adorn the walls at The Pho’s cozy 14-seat space. Any item on The Pho’s menu can also be ordered for takeout or delivery via their Eat24 page.

The Pho is open daily for lunch and dinner from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
