2017 Fourth of July Holiday Guide

Celebrating Independence Day in New York City is a one-of-a-kind experience, but don't wait until the last minute to finalize your plans. Whether you want to be dazzled by the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks display or opt for a relaxing picnic in Madison Square Park, the Flatiron District has you covered for an unforgettable Fourth of July.

Where to Watch Fireworks

Macy’s 41st Annual Fourth of July Fireworks show is offering its largest display in more than a decade along the East River this year. The 25-minute light show kicks off at 9:25 p.m. as fireworks will be launched from five barges in the East River between 24th and 41st Streets.

Here in Flatiron, 230 FIFTH is hosting a July 4th BBQ on its rooftop beginning at 12:00 p.m. The $20 cover charge includes one drink from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Please call the venue directly (212-725-4300) for more information.

Where to Experience a Beach in the City

Eataly’s seaside restaurant, SABBIA, features delicious Italian coastal fare like Island Creek Oysters, swordfish, and Prosciutto Cotto, as well as an impressive list of refreshing summer wine, cocktails, and beer.

Where to Host a Picnic

Escape the summer heat in the shade of the beautiful trees and gardens of Madison Square Park. Bring your own picnic or treat yourself to all-American burgers, fries, and shakes at the original Shake Shack. While there, be sure to check out the three large sculptures of painted wood and prismatic glass on view as a part of the Prismatic Park exhibition brought to you by our friends at the Madison Square Park Conservancy.

ilili BOX, located in the Flatiron North Public Plaza at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets, serves a variety of Mediterranean inspired sandwiches, wraps, and sides. On the Flatiron South Public Plaza along Broadway between 22nd and 23rd Streets, Flatiron Green Café offers a wide selection of wraps, paninis, salads, and fresh juices.

For dessert, satisfy your sweet tooth with a patriotic American Flag cupcake pack at Baked by Melissa at their Flatiron location at 111 East 23rd Street.

Where to Shop Before Your Weekend Beach Getaway

Headed to the beach or the pool for the long holiday weekend? Check out the latest swimwear at Athleta Flatiron at 126 Fifth Avenue, Club Monaco at 160 Fifth Avenue, and Sweaty Betty at 168 Fifth Avenue.

How to Get Around
