Wellness Wednesdays on the Flatiron South Plaza This Summer (June 20th - August 8th)

Join the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership for Wellness Wednesdays, eight weeks of free fitness classes taught in partnership with local fitness studios. Classes begin Wednesday, June 20th and run through Wednesday, August 8th with each class scheduled from 6 pm - 7 pm. The Flatiron District is home to numerous studious offering a wide variety of exercise activities and classes.


Wednesday, June 20th: barre + cardio with Exhale

The best of both worlds, this guaranteed-to-make-you-sweat session spends half its time on cardio-centric exercises like punches, twists, and mountain climbers before moving to barre moves to tone your thighs, glutes, and core. It’s a high-energy, sweaty, full-body workout! Sneakers suggested, mat is optional.

Wednesday, June 27th: STRENGTH with Uplift Studios

STRENGTH is 45-minutes of time-based fatigue for every muscle group, interspersed with two tabata-style, high-intensity interval sections. The goal is to lift the heaviest weights you can, using the best possible form, in a given amount of time. The results: improved muscular endurance, better posture, better total body definition, better metabolic performance, increased interest in strength training. Strength is appropriate for beginners, enthusiasts, athletes, pre/post natal women, women over fifty, and injured clients. SHOES REQUIRED.

Wednesday, July 11th: bodē Flow Yoga with bodē NYC

Open Level: A vigorous and fun flow series that develops strength and improves range of motion of the entire body. Postures are threaded together for a smooth transition from one to the next, with a strong emphasis on breath control and alignment.

Wednesday, July 25th: Kickboxing with Tiger Schulmann

Tiger Schulmann’s kickboxing class will not only teach you kickboxing for fitness, but the proper technique to prevent injury and provide a higher quality, professional workout. Techniques focus on strikes with hands, feet, elbows, knees, and blocking, while you burn fat and build muscle, gain energy, increase flexibility and endurance. Please bring yoga mats for post-workout stretches.

Wednesday, August 1st: Vinyasa Yoga with New York Health & Racquet Club 

Yoga with an emphasis is on linking breath with movement, strength, and form.

Wednesday, August 9th: HOT HIIT with bodē NYC

HOT HIIT is a training system that combines High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), muscle toning, and cardio in a room heated to approximately 100 degrees. This practice burns fat and creates long, lean muscle mass with rapid results. It strengthens your core, improves circulation, and increases flexibility.

HOT HIIT is performed on a yoga mat. All movements are low impact, which protects your joints and muscles from the pounding of other exercises like running and jumping.

Wellness Wednesday fitness classes take place from 6 pm to 7 pm on the Flatiron South Public Plaza, on Broadway between 22nd and 23rd Streets. The BID will provide a small supply of yoga mats on a first come, first served basis. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat. Classes are free and open to the public, but are subject to change due to weather. Follow @FlatironNY on Twitter for updates. 

These fitness classes are part of Flatiron Summer Series, a series of free community programming for the neighborhood, by the neighborhood, including free tech education classes on Tech Tuesdays, free fitness classes on Wellness Wednesdays, and nostalgic games and performances on Throwback Thursdays. *All participants must fill out and sign the release and waiver in order to participate. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the release and waiver. Please bring a printed copy of your signed release and waiver to the registration table prior to class. There will be additional release and waiver forms on site.
