Community Survey 2018 Results

Our annual community survey is an invaluable source of information that helps us evaluate our work and better understand the community’s priorities for the neighborhood. In an effort to gain valuable feedback, The Flatiron Partnership conducted our twelfth annual Community Survey from mid-September through early November. The survey generated 379 responses with 55% of respondents living or working in the Flatiron District.

We are happy to report that the Partnership’s work remains strong with 96.4% of survey respondent indicating that they approve or strongly approve of the overall job of the Partnership. This is our highest approval rating to date since first distributing the survey in 2007! In addition to our strong overall approval rating, the Partnership saw noticeable increases in the approval rating of our various programmatic areas.

The Clean Streets program received a 89.3% excellent or good rating, up from 85.6% in 2017.
75.9% of respondents thought the same of Public Safety, which increased from 69.4% in 2017.
The Public Improvements and Marketing programs received approval ratings of 79.1% and 82.3%, respectively.
Furthermore, 92.8% of respondents rated the impact of the Partnership’s work on strengthening the Flatiron District’s identity as excellent or good.

When asked how the permanent design can improve the Public Plazas, survey respondents indicated that increased seating and art (especially permanent), more shaded space, pedestrian/cyclist safety, and more greenery were their top priorities. Respondents favorite things about Flatiron include restaurant and dining, Madison Square Park, and Shopping. Lastly, when asked to describe Flatiron, the most popular descriptions were vibrant, fun, and trendy.
