New Neighbor: Mexicue

Mexicue is now open at 225 Fifth Avenue! What started as a Mexican food truck has evolved with multiple brick and mortar locations in NYC.

Mexicue's unique food combines "two of America's favorite comfort foods: Mexican & BBQ." They blended Mexico's spices, fresh ingredients, and flavor-packed tastes with American smoky BBQ flavors. Mexicue takes pride in providing high quality and local when possible ingredients, fresh ground spices, and whole, fresh vegetables. Mexicue offers over 70 types of Bourbon, Tequila, and Mezcal at their 25-foot bar.

The menu has expanded beyond just tacos and sliders from their food truck days. At the Fifth Avenue location, you will find salads, bowls, sandwiches, burritos, and large plates. Co-founder David Schillace told us his two favorites are the Avocado Chicken Sandwich and Smoky Carnitas Tacos.

In 2010, Mexicue was a Tex-Mex food truck roaming the streets of New York. In 2014, due to difficulties of running a food truck in the city, Mexicue opened their first location on Seventh Avenue between West 29th and 30th Streets. The restaurant at 225 Fifth is the brand's third location. According to a Crain's New York article, the brand's expansion was made possible, in part, by investment from Ruby Tuesday founder Sandy Beall last year.

Hours are Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Happy hour is Monday through Friday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
