Expansion of Free WiFi in Flatiron

The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) has provided free WiFi on the Public Plazas at 23rd Street, Broadway and Fifth Avenue since 2011, and we are happy to announce the substantial expansion of WiFi coverage along 23rd Street from Sixth Avenue to Park Avenue South; along Fifth Avenue from 25th Street to 21st Street; along Broadway from 24th Street to 21st Street; and 21st Street between Fifth Avenue and Broadway.

The expansion of the Flatiron network was made possible through funding from the New York City Economic Development Corporation, matched by resources from the Flatiron Partnership. To make the network functional, local property owners and businesses generously worked with the BID for the installation of WiFi equipment on private property. The BID would like to thank - ABS Partners Real Estate, Adams & Co., Alan Tanksley Inc., Argo Tea, Flatiron Green Café, ilili BOX, L&L Holding Company, Marimekko, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Pentagram, SL Green, Two Trees Management Co., and Walter & Samuels.

While work on the network was being done, the network was accessible to the public, and in 2014, over 175,000 users logged on. This summer, the BID will continue to work to strengthen the network to accommodate increased usage demands. The network is promoted by signage on the Public Plazas and a streetlamp banner campaign along 23rd Street.

To log on to the network, look for “#Flatiron Free WiFi” along 23rd Street and on the Public Plazas.
