New Neighbor: Flying Tiger Copenhagen

Flying Tiger Copenhagen celebrated their first New York City and US store with a grand opening at their Flatiron District Flagship location on Saturday, May 16th. The Danish design brand was founded in Copenhagen in 1995 and is known for its fun, quirky, and ever-changing assortment of Danish design products.

New items are added to the store every two weeks and also change seasonally to reflect the time of year. Though you will still see their signature themes of mustaches and hearts in regular rotation, they will be frequently reimagined with new design concepts.

Flying Tiger is owned by the Danish company Zebra A/S. Flying Tiger is the North American and Asian name for the international retail chain Tiger, which has over 425 locations 27 countries. Tina Kanter, the brand's Managing Director, is spearheading the expansion in the US and recently said, “I look forward to introducing Flying Tiger to the US market.” Founder of Tiger Lennart Lajboschitz added, “We are thrilled to partner with Tina to open our first US store in New York City; 2015 is going to be a great year for our brand.” Why Flatiron? They said "Flatiron District in New York City is a lot like Flying Tiger, quirky, always fresh and with something for everyone."

The 5,000 square foot Flatiron Flagship store offers a variety of items including home, accessories, stationary, toys, electronics, gadgets, snacks and more, all at affordable prices. Are you wondering how affordable is affordable? According to a recent Racked article, "90% of Tiger's products cost less than $15."

Hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Flying Tiger Copenhagen, 920 Broadway, corner of 21st Street, (212) 777-1239.
