New Neighbor: CHOP-SHOP II

Cool cucumber salads and spicy sesame noodles are on the menu at CHOP-SHOP II, Flatiron’s newest contemporary Asian restaurant. The brainchild of Danny Emerman and Mah Chan of Bottino, and Robert Wu and Jason Li, CHOP-SHOP II offers respite from the bustling streets of Manhattan and serves its guests an eclectic variety of Asian cuisines in its minimalist venue.

The Flatiron location opens its doors 3 years after its sister restaurant in Chelsea, and Danny Emerman, CHOP-SHOP’s owner/manager, hopes to bridge the restaurants’ diverse demographics over the two neighborhoods. “So many of our customers live here and work there, or work here and live there. Great cross-pollination!” explains Emerman. Its central location will attract business lunch diners, curious tourists, as well as larger groups who may sample from the restaurant’s family-style tasting menu.

Emerman says the space’s “raw architectural characteristics – the rough cement and brick walls” evoke the CHOP-SHOP aesthetic and give it a no-frills attitude. The team is looking forward to becoming a favorite Flatiron District destination for those looking for a creative and refreshing take on Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisines.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for lunch and 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for dinner, and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

CHOP-SHOP II, 41 West 24th Street, between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, (646) 964-5672.
