New Neighbor: Of Mercer

After launching online in November 2013, Of Mercer, an e-tailer offering trendy office apparel for women, officially opened its brick and mortar location in the Flatiron District on Monday, October 26th.

The company was founded by Dorie Golkin Smith and Emelyn Northway, both Wharton Business School graduates who "met each other while wearing the exact same dress," according to Racked. Following their online launch, the brand received ongoing requests from customers for personal shopping appointments and in-person events, which led to pop-up shopping experiences in many cities, including New York, Boston, and Chicago.

Co-founder Emelyn Northway said in a press release, “we’ve seen at our in-person events that women are eager for opportunities to collaborate and network with one another. There are a lot of positive interactions that happen by just putting powerful, driven women together in the same room, and we want to be able to facilitate that all the time.”

Their idea translated into a physical retail store where customers can enjoy collaborative workspace with WiFi and charging stations, private and personal shopping experiences for groups and individuals, monthly events hosted by 'Women Of Mercer' Ambassadors, as well as business workshops and networking mixers for professional women.

Hours are Monday to Tuesday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday to Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Of Mercer, 42 East 21st Street, between Park Avenue South and Broadway, (212) 979-2229.
