NYC Free Tax Prep

If you earned $62,000 or less in 2015, you may qualify for FREE tax prep services through the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs. There are two ways to file your taxes safely and for free: in person with an IRS-certified volunteer prepare, or online. Sites offering free services have varying income-eligibility requirements. For most in-person sites, you must earn $54,000 or less (with children) or $30,000 or less (no children). Alternatively, you can file online with step-by-step instructions to make it easy to claim credits. This method is available to those who earned less than $62,000 in the past year.
