Summer Streets Midtown Rest Stop in the Flatiron District

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of the City's streets. For three consecutive Saturdays each August, nearly seven miles of NYC's streets are opened for people to play, run, walk, and bike. Two Summer Streets dates remain for 2016 - this Saturday, August 13th and the following Saturday, August 20th.

Summer Streets programming takes place from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., extending from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park along Park Avenue. All activities are free of charge and designed for people of all ages and ability levels.

The Flatiron District is home to the Midtown Rest Stop - one of the major activity centers along the Summer Streets route. Located on East 26th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South, the Midtown Rest Stop offers a wide range of free activities like bicycle educational demonstrations, bicycle rentals and repairs, and free food and drink samples.

The Midtown Rest Stop also offers a diverse spread of events like fitness classes, concerts, and dance performances. For a full list of activities and complete events schedule, click here.
