2018 Fourth of July Holiday Guide

New York City is a magical place to celebrate the Fourth of July! Whether you want to take in the spectacular Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks display, or keep it simple with a picnic in the park, visit the Flatiron neighborhood for a memorable Fourth of July holiday.

Watch Fireworks

Macy’s 42nd Annual Fourth of July Fireworks show is offering its largest display in eighteen years since the Millennial celebration. The 25-minute light show kicks off at 9:25 pm when 75,000 fireworks will begin launching from seven barges in the East River between 24th and 41st Streets.

Here in Flatiron, 230 FIFTH is hosting a July 4th Summer BBQ on its rooftop from 12 pm to 2 pm. A $20 cover from 7 pm to 9 pm includes one drink ticket. Reservations are made through bottle service. Please call the venue directly (212-725-4300) for more information.

Experience the Country in the City

Eataly is bringing the Italian countryside to New York City with its greenhouse rooftop restaurant and bar, SERRA by Birreria. The rustic tables and family-style dishes made with fresh, quality ingredients from Eataly's favorite farmers from Italy and the U.S. transport guests from the Manhattan streets to Italy's rolling fields. The expertly curated drink menu offers beers, cocktails, and treats to beat the heat such as botanical cocktails, frosé (frozen rosé), and Negroni popsicles.

Host a Picnic

Grab a blanket and escape to the shade of the beautiful trees and gardens of Madison Square Park. Several Flatiron hot spots offer summer comfort food perfect for a picnic.

Stop by Smile To Go for tasty sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Lobster rolls are a summertime classic and Luke's Lobster offers some of the best with a quarter pound of wild-caught Maine lobster stuffed into a buttered bun. Treat yourself to all-American burgers, fries, and shakes at the original Shake Shack. Cool down with Cha Cha Matcha's soft serve with flavor twists like coffee and passion fruit, or Juice Press' fresh fruit smoothies and acai bowls, or satisfy your sweet tooth with a patriotic American Flag cupcake pack at Baked by Melissa. While in the park, be sure to check out this summer's art exhibition, Delirious Matter by artist Diana Al-Hadid on view through September 3rd and curated and presented by the Madison Square Park Conservancy.

Shop Before Your Weekend Beach Getaway

If you're headed to the beach or the pool for the long holiday weekend, these Flatiron shops can help you gear-up. Check out the latest swimwear at Athleta FlatironClub Monaco, Sweaty Betty, and Todd Snyder, and pick up a new pair of designer sunglasses at Solstice. And, don't forget to protect your skin from the sun with high-quality SPF products from Origins.

Get Around The City

Visit the MTA's website to help plan your transportation needs for the July 4th holiday, or travel on two wheels from one of the 13 Citi Bike stations in and around the Flatiron District.
