Car Free Earth Day

The fourth annual Car Free Earth Day opens 30 blocks of Broadway, from Times Square to Union Square, including the blocks in Flatiron, for people to explore on foot! This year's event will take place on Saturday, April 27th from 9 am to 3 pm and will include public programming at six rest stops:

  • Times Square: 42nd Street & Broadway
  • Garment District: 38th Street & Broadway
  • Herald Square: 34th Street & Broadway
  • City Zone: 26th Street & Broadway
  • Flatiron District: 23rd Street & Broadway
  • Union Square: 17th Street & Broadway
DOT is looking for a group of eager and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with crowd control hand out free giveaways, and serve as “open road” ambassadors. Volunteers can choose a morning shift (8 am to 12 pm) or afternoon (11 am to 3 pm). All volunteers will receive a commemorative shirt.

**Please Note** Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions.
