New Neighbor: LEGO

This weekend, celebrate the grand opening of LEGO in the Flatiron District! From Friday, October 10th through Monday, October 13th, you can help three LEGO Master Builders construct a 20-foot tall LEGO model of the Statue of Liberty completely out of LEGO bricks, and you'll even get a “certificate of achievement” for participating.

The LEGO Store is located at 200 Fifth Avenue, in the former International Toy Center. The interior is decorated with larger-than-life LEGO bricks, sculptures, toys, and LEGO-shaped ceiling lights. There is a dragon slithering along the top, greeting customers with a wide pink grin. The store features many iconic New York City elements, such as the Toy Center Clock and the arm of Statue Liberty. Lining the walls are a row of historic figurines built out of LEGO.

The store also features “Pick A Brick Wall” where customers can purchase individual LEGO bricks, elements, and minifigures. Don’t forget to check out the back room where there is an installation of the Flatiron Building and Flatiron Plazas, complete with blue umbrellas!

LEGO hosts regular events, such as Mini Model Build, where you can learn how to build a cool mini model, and take it home – for free! To find out more about the store and its upcoming events, visit

Store hours are Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
