#ShackIsBack - Madison Square Park Shake Shack Reopens!

The Shack is back! After undergoing months of renovations, the original Shake Shack, located in Madison Square Park, reopened on Wednesday, May 20th and was greeted by many hungry "Shack Fans."

The location closed in October of 2014, after more than a decade of continuous operation, for planned renovation work that included “some sweet upgrades to the kiosk’s interior and exterior,” according to the company. Sure enough, the new and improved Shack sports a green roof installed by Vert Gardens that includes hydrangeas, white and pink blossoms, and English ivy. Inside, a renovated kitchen and new storage basement provide extra room for food preparation. The changes mark an impressive turning point for the flagship location, which began as a hot dog cart in 2001 before a permanent kiosk was constructed in June 2004.

The reopening celebration featured the ParkBurger, a special bacon cheeseburger with cave-aged Jasper Hill Farm raw cow’s milk cheese sauce, and a lager created just for the occasion by Brooklyn Brewery. Cardboard replicas of the iconic Shack were distributed to the first 100 people in line and were also available for purchase. The Brooklyn United Marching Band provided a set of live music, and even dogs were able to take part in the fun thanks to free ShackBurger Dog Biscuits handed out around the park.

Welcome back, Shake Shack!
