New Neighbor: Yoga Shanti

“Our classes offer the perfect combination of alignment, flow, and inquiry," says Joyce Englander Levy, Yoga Shanti co-owner and teacher. "We are known for our intelligent sequencing of poses. You'll break a sweat and learn something about anatomy to boot!"

For beginners, there's a state-of-the-art program "perfect for people who can't touch their toes or are intimidated to get started," notes Jenny Hudak, co-owner and teacher. Other Yoga Shanti classes include prenatal yoga, to build strength and endurance for labor; yoga for seniors, sessions modified for the agility of older adults; and urban zen, which offers premiere restorative yoga, plus aromatherapy, Reiki, breath awareness, and meditation.

"You won't be asked to push past your healthy physical and mental limitations," adds Colleen Saidman, co-owner and teacher, about the classes at the spacious Flatiron location, "but you will break new ground nonetheless!"

For daily class schedules, go to

Yoga Shanti, 46 West 24th Street, between 6th Avenue and Broadway, (212) 255-YOGA.
